Moving Seminars

I am so happy to announce that the North Austin school will be moving to a new home (less than 5 minutes from our current location). With the changing of the new year to 2009 we will be located in a new location very close to our current location. The size will be only slightly smaller, but the space will be much more usable. I have signed a long lease on this space and plan on making it our home for many years. We moved to our current location in October 1999 (the same weekend I got promoted to 5th degree). Many things have occurred in the 9 years between then and now. Some good and some not so good, but we have always kept folks moving forward to reach black belt and higher. I wouldn’t traded those years for any amount of money because I have met so many great people and most of them are still with me.
In order to get this new school ready (security deposits and finishing money) I need your help once again. I need for everyone to come in to take a seminar or make a small donation to the school. This will help to bring about this move to the school that will serve as our main Austin location for years to come. Saturday, December 6th at 1PM I will be teaching two seminars that have always gotten the best reception among students.

Kick Clinic DVD
If you can’t make it to the seminars, you can still make a donation by just purchasing the DVD alone for $25. We will have it at the school for you to pick. This DVD will change the way you kick and think about training forever.
1PM Complete Kick Make-Over
This is without a doubt my pride and joy. If I have learned anything over the last 24 years it has been how to read someone’s body and tell them exactly how to maximize their kicking range, speed and power. I can often make single adjustments in a matter of seconds that alter a person’s kick height by 1 or 2 feet. For the first time ever I will be including DVD of this seminar (only if you pre-register by Thursday)

PICK and PLAY mantis
This is without a doubt one of my favorite katas. I LOVE IT!! If I get to meet the creator of this form in heaven, I will give him a huge compliment. It is short enough o learn in one hour and will remain one of your favorites for years to come. (if you take this seminar, you still get the Kick Clinic DVD when you pre-register by Thursday)

The Candle Hua Jing Training (included in the previous pice)
This is not only a cool parlor trick, but a very important training tool for speed and power in your punching technique. I will have candles and lighters on hand. I haven’t taught this seminar in about 6 years and it was immensely popular back then. I think because everybody walked out the door being able to put a candle flame out from at least 1 foot away with about a 1 or 2 inch movement of their palm. This translates to hitting technique. In the 2004 tournament, I tore my ACL ( in my knee) during the demo and still managed to put out a candle while sitting on the floor with my knee wrapped in ice. KIDS seminar (Cost $25)

Swallow Swoops Down Dagger Form
This black belt level form is easy to learn and very cool to perform.
We will provide a rubber dagger to the kids for practice and they get to take it home and keep it. The form is about 10 moves long repeated in 4 directions. They will have a blast an d feel very special to learn this high level form. Expect them to come home very “fired” up about Shaolin-Do.
